Dental Implants 101

1 CEU

Implants are the standard of care for edentulous areas. A patient with implants is different than a patient with natural dentition.

Does the team understand the difference?

As many patients are seeking dental implants as a viable restorative option, all members of the dental team should have a grasp of the role implants play in overall systemic and oral health. Without proper care and maintenance from both the patient and clinician, the best surgical technique, osseointegration, and restoration could all be undone. As dental professionals all team members need to have a grasp of implant therapy. Understanding the basics of implant components, the differences between teeth and implants and overall patient selection are critical in providing patients with optimum implant care.

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss the role of implants in the maintenance of oral and systemic health;

  • Categorize implant types and components;

  • Identify contraindications and criteria for patient selection.

Seeing Beneath the Surface: Periodontal Endoscopic Therapy

Kristen Ranaldo, RDH, BSDH

1 CEU

This course explores the transformative role of dental endoscopy in modern periodontal and implant care. Participants will trace the history and evolution of this technology from its medical origins to its specialized dental applications. The lecture highlights its unmatched diagnostic precision in identifying subgingival calculus and other pathologies, as well as its value in managing both periodontitis and peri-implantitis. Real-world case studies will demonstrate clinical decision-making and outcomes, while discussion of adjunctive therapies will provide practical strategies to enhance treatment effectiveness. Attendees will gain actionable insights to elevate diagnosis, therapy, and long-term patient care.

Learning objectives:

By the end of this lecture, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the history and evolution of dental endoscopy and its adaptation for periodontal and implant care;

  • Recognize the diagnostic precision of endoscopy in detecting subgingival calculus, biofilm, and other disease indicators;
